Follow Through

In order for the previous 3 elements (position, sight alignment, trigger squeeze ) to be effective, you must hold on target until the projectile leaves the barrel.

There is the essence of follow through.

The best exercise is to attempt to reacquire the bull after the recoil moves you off. As you become practiced, firing a round will set in motion an action where you rock back, then settle smoothly onto your target again.

As you become skilled at this, try taking follow-up shots. Perhaps, as time becomes a concern, you may want to acquire a shooting timer. These devices "hear" the report, and deliver an account of the period that they time. If you want to become competitive, they are essential for continued improvement. If your shooting is recreational only, you may not need one.
