Position - sportshooter

When preparing to fire a shot, having determined you are shooting safely, position yourself STEADILY. The more rigid your shooting platform, the better your chances of hitting your target. Always press the butt of your rifle firmly into your shoulder. Particularly with a high-powered rifle where recoil may injure you - especially with a scope.

Standing- Stand with feet shoulder width apart. Right handed should stand 30 degrees offset to the right - so rifle points naturally to the target.

Kneeling - Again, position yourself so that your rifle points naturally. This position is more stable than standing, because your elbow rests on your knee.

Sitting - One of the most stable positions, and therefore, one of the most accurate. There are two sitting positions, one with your legs out in front (about 40 degrees apart), the other with your legs crossed. Both with both elbows on both knees. Feet forward is more suitable to suiting on the level, legs crossed for shooting from a position of vantage.

PRONE - The most accurate. Lie flat on your frontside, feet at 30 degrees. Elbows on the ground. Keep the butt of your rifle snug to your shoulder
